The Spiritual Leadership Online Survey

The first step in implementing organizational spiritual leadership is to establish a baseline on the key spiritual leadership variables as well as identify the key issues that must be addressed to move the organization to the next level of spiritual leadership, which is the keystone for maximizing the triple bottom line. It is necessary that the organizations top management team provides employees access to critical organizational data and fully supports this effort. All employees should complete the survey, which is usually administered through an Internet link via email.  After this, interviews with select employees at all levels are conducted to gain a more detailed insight into what is going on in the organization.

The spiritual leadership survey is the most extensively tested assessment survey of leadership and workplace spirituality. Studies have been conducted in over 100 organizations raging in size from a few employees to over 1200,  including schools, military units, cities, police, and for profit. These studies have confirmed the spiritual leadership model and its reliability and validity. The survey's reliability and validity has been established and reported at international symposia and in top journals such as The Leadership Quarterly (See publications in Resources and in particular, “Transforming the Army Through Spiritual Leadership: Theory, Measurement, and Establishing a Baseline”). Results to date support a significant positive influence of organizational spiritual leadership on employee and unit performance, life satisfaction, organizational commitment and productivity, and sales growth.

Survey Results

The survey utilizes a 1-5 response set that ranges from strongly disagree, disagree, neutral, agree, to strongly agree. This information is then collated and converted into bar graphs for all nine SLT variables.

For the bar graphs:
1. Averages are given in the lower right corner (possible range is from 1-5).
2. Strongly disagree/disagree, and agree/strongly  agree categories are combined to give percentage of respondents who agree, are neutral or disagree.

The following are examples of the charts with measurable data results from the survey:
